Seminar on “Basics of Intellectual Property Rights” organised at ITS College

The Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) at ITS Engineering College, Greater Noida, organized an enlightening seminar on the “Basics of Intellectual Property Rights and Its Importance for Innovators and Entrepreneurs” on 24 October 2024. The event aimed to educate students, faculty, and budding entrepreneurs about Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and its significant role in safeguarding innovations and inventions. The seminar was led by Jyoti Chauhan, Founder & Managing Partner of Golden IP Services Pvt. Ltd., a reputed professional in the field of intellectual property. Ms. Chauhan began with an overview of Intellectual Property Rights, explaining the different types of IP, including patents, copyrights, trademarks, and trade secrets. She highlighted how these rights protect ideas, inventions, and creative works, providing innovators with exclusive rights to their creations. She emphasized the necessity of IP protection for startups and entrepreneurs. Chauhan explained that securing IP rights enhances a company’s value, attracts investors, and provides a competitive edge in the market. For innovators, IPR ensures that they are rewarded for their creativity and that their inventions remain legally protected from unauthorized use. The seminar covered the procedural aspects of filing for patents, trademarks, and copyrights. Ms. Chauhan discussed the importance of conducting IP searches, drafting patent claims carefully, and filing applications in a timely manner.
