Greater Noida (07/04/2022): Department of Community Medicine, GIMS Greater Noida observed world health day 2022 on Thursday, 07 March 2022. The theme for this year’s world health day is ‘our planet our health’. The activities that were undertaken included quiz competition related to environment and health, a debate competition on the topic of artificial intelligence and our planet and our health, and a poster making competition among the medical and nursing students at GIMS Greater Noida. Nursing students at GIMS also presented a role play to sensitize the audience about the perils of environmental deterioration and its effect on peoples health and lives. The role play was ended with a message to save the mother earth and its environment.
Inaugural address was delivered by the professor head of the department community medicine Dr Rambha Pathak. In addition a guest lecture on ‘our planet our health’ was delivered by Dr Harish Chander, Scientist Grade- I & Deputy Director, National Institute of Biologicals, Noida, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India. A talk about climate change and its impact on health was also delivered by Dr Hariom Kumar Solanki, Faculty, Department of Community Medicine at GIMS Greater Noida.
Rupam Sarkar MBBS Batch 2021 student won the first prize for poster making competition while the team Green Defender’s Shivanika Malik and Revati Gupta (2020 MBBS Batch) stood first in the quiz competition. Shayam Chaitanya (MBBS 2019 batch) won the debate competition.
Director GIMS Dr (Brig) Rakesh Gupta said that such events help in spreading awareness among the students and general population about the importance of taking care of our planet earth for our own benefit and health.
