Greater Noida, 11 July 2022: The Father Agnel School, Greater Noida on Monday organised the Environment Day Assembly.
The celebration included a musical choir and dramatical play to invoke the feeling of environmental conservation amongst the students. The objective was to make the students realise the importance of nature and call on them to do something to protect the environment from further harm.
“States like Maharashtra, Karnataka and Goa have received unseasonal heavy rains damaging the harvest and infrastructure. Yet in Delhi, instead of enjoying monsoon showers, we are sweating and gulping ice-cold water. It is time that we stop neglecting the gifts of nature and take steps to conserve the environment. Cutting down forests is not the way to increase accommodation or expand businesses. A tree takes years to grow but we cut it down to build infrastructure which influences global temperature and disturbs the environment,” said Principal Sister Pramila Vas. She also highlighted role of human mind – the most powerful and important thing on the earth in the protection of earth
In his address, the Chief Guest Gajanan Mali, Founder of Ten News Network stated, “I think environment day is not only about one day but it should be celebrated every day, every hour, every minute and every second. We should pledge to protect our environment. While the international agencies, governments, Urban Local Bodies are trying their level best to protect the environment , it is every individual’s responsibility to take every step possible to protect the environment.” He also talked about the role of UNEP, UN Global Compact Network of India in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030 especially preserving water and providing good sanitary conditions , which are the important part of environment .
The event was graced by the presence of School Administrator Josy Joseph , Teachers and large number senior students of Father Agnel School, Greater Noida. At the end of the function tress were also planted by Gajanan Mali , Principal, School Administrator , Teachers and Students .
