May 17 is celebrated as World Telecommunication and Information Society Day. The Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE)- India celebrated World Telecom and Information Society Day at its Head Quarter in Lodhi Road in New Delhi.
On this day, Professor R. K. Sinha, Vice Chancellor of Gautam Buddha University, Greater Noida, UP was honoured by IETE for his distinguished contribution on Education, Research and Technology Development in the area of Fiber Optics and Nano-photonic Devices for Telecom and Sensing Applications.
It is learnt that Prof Sinha has successfully established advanced R and D Center in the area of Fiber Optics and Optical Communication and has started many new academic programs at DTU Delhi. Later he mentored several technology development and commercialization while serving as Director of CSIR lab at Chandigarh. His research work on characterization of Telecom Grade Optical Fiber, Photonic Crystal and Metamaterials have created new knowledge with wide application in high speed optical communications.
