Greater Noida (01/04/2022): The Government institute of medical sciences (GIMS), Greater Noida is an autonomous tertiary care medical teaching hospital in Gautam Buddha Nagar. The institute is moving forward to provide state of the art medical care to all patients, including care of Covid 19 patients, actively involved in medical education, and conducting high end collaborative research with ICMR, IGIB, CSIR and WHO. The institute is conducting MBBS course since academic year 2019-20 and post graduate courses (DNB) in Medicine, Obs & Gynae, Pediatrics and Anesthesia, through National Board of Examinations Since Jun 2020. The College of Nursing for 60 students in 2021 and Paramedical school for 60 students in 2021.
In order to further improve the patient care and academic excellence, institute has taken initiative, to start post graduate courses and got approval from National Board of Examinations (NBE) in Pediatrics, Gynecology, Medicine, and Anesthesia since Aug 2020. The second batch of 2021 DNB students have joined the institute in Mar 2022. The formal Inauguration of second batch of DNB course was inaugurated on 01 Apr 0222 in the Patanjali auditorium and inaugurated by Professor Minu Bajpai, Prof & HOD pediatric Surgery at AIIMS New Delhi and Executive Director, National Board of Examinations. Speaking on the occasion, he congratulated all the newly joined DNB residents and complemented them for joining GIMS, which is providing an excellent care of patients. He appraised about the new changes in the policies of UG & PG Curriculum, CBME, Formative and summative assessment. He emphasized the importance of training, innovations and Protocol based treatment of patients.
Chief Medical Superintendent, Dr. Saurabh Srivastav welcomed the chief guest and DNB residents. Director, Dr. Brig. Rakesh Gupta appraised about the institute and told that it is the hard work of all their faculty and staff day in and day out that has resulted in the multifold growth of this institution. Dr Pinky Mishra the Coordinator of the programme briefed the newly joined student. Dr Rambha Pathak, Dean of GIMS had presented the vote of Thanks.
The GIMS hospital is fully functional and approximately 1500 patients were visiting the hospital daily and over 300 patients are being admitted. All the major surgeries like Gall bladder stones, Kidney stones, Knee replacement surgery, Hysterectomy, Caesarean section are being performed. The institute boasts of all broad specialties and several rapidly developing subspecialty services. These postgraduate trainees will boost the patient care in the hospital and further growth of the institute and in return will gain from the immense and varied clinical workload. No new medical college in the country, such a step to start UG & PG courses together. This will help not only in patient care, but also UG training. These Post graduate residents will help in training of UG students.
