India is often called the land of festivals, and rightly so. It’s not only for the traditional rituals dating back to ancient times, but for the mass revelry each of these festivals bring about. Janmashtami, the birth of Lord Krishna is celebrated with great devotion and enthusiasm all over India. His birth marks the end of inhumanity and cruelty over mankind, thus making Krishna a symbol of righteousness.
BIMTECH witnessed Janmashtami celebrations on 14th August,2017 wherein students competed against each other in teams for the MatkiPhod competition. Many Devotees also observed the ritualistic fast.
A beautiful evening comprising of Bhajan recitation and folk dance by the Vrindavan and Mathura troupe left every one mesmerized.
To add to the fun and fervor, a Dhandiya night was organized which saw the students and faculty alike, dressed up in traditional colorful attires to dance their hearts out on this auspicious day. A small cradle with a miniature Krishna’s idol in it was cradled with love and devotion by all as the clock struck twelve marking the birth of Lord Krishna which was followed by an Aarti and Phoolon ki Holi.
BIMTECH seemed no less than Mathura, with gopis and gwalas dancing to the devotional tunes to impress their beloved Kanha.
Lord Krishna is the symbol of love and joy and has preached that one shouldn’t let their ego take over their mind. Ego melts and disappears when love dawns within.
