I.T.S Centre for Clinical Excellence (ITSCCE) at I.T.S Dental College, Greater Noida organized a Lecture & Hands-on Workshop Smile Designing – A Practical Insight on 18 th February 2017 in which more than 100 students and faculty from North India participated.The event was inaugurated by invocation to Goddess Saraswati and lamp lighting done

Dr Anmol S Kalha (Director PG studies) extended a warm welcome to all the guests and delegates and appreciated the efforts of the organising team for conducting this kind of workshop. He told that ITSCCE is established with the vision of being a leader in clinically directed, research driven and patient centered education. He told that programs provide independent and unbiased education.Dr Mohan Bhuvaneswaran, is a very senior and renowned Cosmetic Dentist from Chennai. He was awarded Best Cosmetic Dentist in 2016. He is also Accredited Member of American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.Dr Mohan Bhuvaneswaran gave the lecture on basics of smile designing and its application on patients. He said that smile is a person’s ability to express a range of emotions with the structure and movement of the teeth and lips, can often determine how well a person can function in society. He stressed upon the fact that organized and systematic approach is required to evaluate, diagnose and resolve estheticproblems predictably. Our ultimate goal as clinicians is to achieve pleasing composition in the smile by creating an arrangement of various esthetic elements. He showed various case reports which demonstrated How good results can be achieved in less
duration of time.Dr Rohit Kochar, Prof & Head, Dept of Conservative & Endodontics in his address told that designing a smile requires an in depth understanding of facial and dental components. He further added that each patient has a different story and expectations. He said that with this workshops participants will learn about essential components of diagnosis, case setup, various processes and procedures required to create beautiful smiles.After the lectures there was hands-on program conducted by Dr Mohan Bhuvaneswaran in which participants were demonstrated techniques of smile designing, diastemma closure and veneers. The participants also did the cases on live patients. Positive feedback was received by the participants and other faculty members about the workshop. The one day event provided the insight into the various new aspects of smile designing with special emphasis on diastema closure and veneers.
