India’s 68th Republic Day was celebrated today with great fervour and enthusiasm. The day started with a prayer. This was followed by the flag hoisting by the Guest of Hon. Rev Father K.K Thomas.
The cultural programme included poems, patriotic songs and a skit. The skit highlighted how our Constitution protect the rights of every citizen irrespective of one’s caste, creed, religion and race.
Speaking on the occasion, Rev Father K K Thomas said that while there have been remarkable achievements in the past 68 years yet there is some distance to rights be travelled. We can truly celebrate our freedom and realise the meaning of Republic when every citizen gets to enjoy the fruits of development in equal measure, when rights enshrined in the Constitution are being enjoyed by every citizen in their daily lives without fear or favour, when the weakest feels empowered by the State.
