Greater Noida, 17th Sep 2022: According to reports, police in Greater Noida recovered over 200 kg of cannabis from a warehouse on Friday and nabbed two people. The cannabis is estimated to be worth Rs 25 lakh and was stashed at a warehouse near the Dadri police station, as per officials. Two canter trucks and a car used in the cannabis shipment have been confiscated, according to a senior officer.

“A warehouse was raided and 210 kg of cannabis was recovered. Two suspects involved in cannabis trafficking have been apprehended, and two more of their associates who are on the run have been identified”, Abhishek Verma, Deputy Commissioner of Police, stated.

Police confirmed those detained as Deepak Singh and Shahzad, alias Sonu, both local residents. During the initial investigation, the arrested duo disclosed that they were part of a network that transported cannabis into the region from outside the state and lived off the proceeds of its illicit sale, according to authorities.

“Further investigation is being conducted to determine the route of the drug smuggling and the network of the arrested individuals. Those involved in drug trafficking would face harsh penalties,” DCP Verma added.

An FIR has been lodged at the Dadri police station under provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, the officer said, adding further investigation is underway. Meanwhile, police sought people’s support in checking the drug menace.
