Teachers’ day celebrations at GIMS

Greater Noida (06/09/2022): Teachers’ Day is celebrated on September 5 every year in India to acknowledge the contribution of teachers in the society. The day marks the birth anniversary of India’s second President and first Vice President Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.

Teachers’ Day was celebrated at Government Institute of Medical Sciences celebrated with great enthusiasm and dedication. The program was anchored by Mr Shyam Chaitanya (3rd year MBBS student, GIMS). After paying tribute to Dr Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan by lighting a lamp, few of the medical and nursing students presented poems and songs dedicated to the Teachers. Director GIMS, Dr (Brig.) Rakesh Gupta addressed the gathering and emphasised on the role of a medical faculty as a teacher and said that Teachers should be the best minds in the country.

To show respect for the dedication and service as teachers, some of the prominent medical educators were felicitated by the institute. The invited dignitaries were Dr Sridhar Dwivedi, Senior Consultant National Heart Institute & Chairperson GIMS Institutional Ethics Committee; Dr Satish K Bhargava, Ex Professor & Head, Dept. of Radiodiagnosis, UCMS, Delhi; Dr Jayshree Bhattacharjee Ex Professor & Head, Dept. of Biochemistry, MAMC, New Delhi; and Dr (Brig.) Arvind Gupta, Chairman & Head, Dept. of Paediatrics, Asian Institute of Medical Sciences, Faridabad. All are stalwarts in their respective fields. The renowned faculty shared their experiences and motivated the attendees with their words of wisdom.
