I.T.S Engineering College, organizes B. Tech 1st Year Orientation Program

The Department of Applied Science & Humanities, I.T.S Engineering College, organized its 15th Orientation Program for B. Tech first year students through online mode with great verve and vigour. The program was organised on the Zoom platform given the pandemic situation. Although the orientation programme was conducted via online mode, it was filled with energy and excitement due to the good number of freshers.

The inaugural ceremony of the event was formally started by Prof. (Dr.) Deepa Singh in the august presence of Prof. (Dr.) Vikas Singh (Executive Director of ITS – the Education Group), Dr. Gagandeep Arora (Dean Academics), Dr. Sanjay Yadav (Director), Dr. O.P. Chaudhary (HOD-Applied Science and Humanities) and all the faculty members of Applied Science and Humanities Department. Prof. (Dr.) Singh shared his pearls of wisdom with the new members of the I.T.S Parivaar which was apparent by the stoic silence and decorum maintained by the students online. Dr.Vikas Singh also took the opportunity to interact with the energetic group of audience. The first phase of the program started with two inspirational alumni talks by Mohammad Shadaan Husain, President Fraternity, Alumni Association and Ms. Karuna Singh, a bright student from the first batch of I.T.S Engineering College. Mohammad Husain who works with Deloitte and Ms. Karuna Singh working in Amazon encouraged the participants with their struggle and success stories. It was indeed a major highlight of the programme. The next session was a presentation about Centres of Excellence by COE coordinators who gave detailed information to the students about various labs of COE. This segment of orientation had a lineup insightful presentation by Ms. Lalita Chaudhary (SALT, IOS, R-System, SYSCOM) and Mr. Rajeev Ranjan (ROCKWELL, e-Yantra, NI, SME).

Post lunch session had a session on Universal Human Values by Professor Ruchi Srivastava that aimed at holistic development of the students. Dr. Srivastava in her session quipped that education should inculcate scientific temperament in the learning community. It should make students aware of what is happening around them and impart in them ethics and human values. It should also help students to develop such personalities that the world accepts and respects. It should encourage the students to dedicate themselves for the betterment of the society and the nation they are living in, apart from making them capable of facing the challenges of the modern world. This session was an ice breaking one with the fresh batch of students. The first day of the orientation program ended on a fruitful note with a talent hunt competition related to elocution and poetry recitation. Elocution had three winners while poetry recitation got two winners
