I.T.S Engineering College, Greater Noida celebrated the World Pi Day on March 14th (3/14). Pi (Greek letter “”) is the symbol used in mathematics to represent a constant — the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter — which is approximately 3.14.
The discovery of this never ending number (3.14159 . . .) and Einstein’s birthday coincided on the same day. Albert Einstein was a German born theoretical physicist who developed the theory of relativity. This day is celebrated to pay respect to all physicists and mathematicians.
The event was graced by Dr. Vikas Singh- Executive Director, HODs of various Department, Faculty and students. Prof. O. P. Chaudhary, Head of the organizing department (Applied Science and Humanities) highlighted the significance and relevance of Pi. The Executive Director, Prof. Vikas Singh also shared his views on the momentous occasion. He too enlightened the audience with his sound experience and knowledge on the topic.
Mathematical Quiz competition was held to motivate and inculcate mathematical spirit among students. The celebration concluded with the prize distribution to the winners of the quiz competition.
