We, as a nation, have come a long way since India sniffed the air of freedom at the stroke of midnight on 15 August 1947. In remembrance of those hard-won moments, the walls of Birla Institute of Management Technology, Greater Noida reverberated with the tunes of patriotism, and the whole campus came alive with fluttering of Tricolor on our 73rd Independence Day.
The celebratory morning started at 9 AM with the unfurling of Tricolor by Dr. Harivansh Chaturvedi in a function very well organized by the Cultural Conduit. The ambiance was soon taken over by the notes of National Anthem which was soulfully sung in unison. It was followed by Dr. Chaturvedi’s address that was immersed in the true spirits of Indian glory and it prompted the students to recognize their duties and responsibilities and work collectively for a better India.
Soon after it, the atmosphere was tuned to the notes of ‘Suno gaur se duniya walo’ which was melodiously presented by the Choir members and thereafter Prateek, a first-year student, took the audience by storm with his speech full of fervor.
The performance by a young girl tugged at the heartstrings of the audience and it brought tears to everyone’s eyes. She sang ‘Teri Mitti’ in remembrance of the martyrs of the Pulwama attack. Everyone paid homage to our martyrs who sacrificed themselves so that we could enjoy the fruit of existence.
The entire event was laced with patriotic zeal and it rightfully came to a close with Bachpan ki Smritiyan where professors shared the vignettes of their childhood and what freedom meant to them back in the day. The event hit the right chords within the minds and souls of the audience and everyone vowed to put the nation first. It was indeed the celebration of India in all its might and glory.
