The administration has made it clear that caterers and banquets hall operators should have the required registration to host weddings and other public events.
According to officials, caterers have been asked to use good quality food products while catering weddings. They have been told that no open food items should be used, as the chances of the food getting spoiled is much higher due to the high temperatures.
Banquet halls have been asked to ensure that caterers providing services on their premises are registered with the food and drugs administration (FDA) department.
Banquet hall owners have been told to provide the details of caterers to the food safety officers in advance before any wedding or function takes place.
“We want to ensure that no bad quality food is served at functions because that can lead to mass food poisoning. We have given guidelines to caterers and banquet halls to ensure that all rules and regulations are followed. No risk to health of the public will be tolerated,” BN Singh, district magistrate, said.
The district administration had recently asked the FDA department to start checking canteens of industrial establishments in Gautam Budh Nagar to ensure safe and hygienic food to people working in these establishments.
