Faculty Development Program (FDP) on ‘Recent Trends in the Development of Novel Approaches in Anti-Cancer Therapeutics”

TEN NEWS NETWORK – Five days AKTU sponsored Faculty Development Program (FDP) on ‘Recent Trends in the Development of Novel Approaches in Anti-Cancer Therapeutics”, was organized by the Noida Institute of Engineering and Technology Pharmacy Institute, Greater Noida. The program was inaugurated by Dr. Pragya Shukla (Head of Clinical Oncology) of Delhi State Cancer Institute who was also the Chief Guest. She highlighted the spreading of awareness about the vaccination against cancer. Dr Avijit Mazumder Director of NIET Pharmacy Institute highlighted the role of advanced technologies to control cancer.  Dr. Dipti Kakkar Thukral of Department of Science and Technology (DST) narrated the role of gene  therapy to  minimize the adverse effects of the cancer therapeutics.

Mrs. Luna Maheshwari, of Plus Healthcare Technologies Pvt. Ltd., Mumbai described the operation and applications of various instruments used specifically for anticancer research in academics. Dr. Javed Ali of Jamia Hamdard discussed approaches for delivery of drugs for the treatment of breast cancer. Dr. Rajani Mathur of DPSAR explained the use of natural resources to control cancer in days ahead. Dr. Himanshi Kapoor of CSIR-Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology, New Delhi focused on the requirement of checking toxicity and drug resistance in controlling cancer. Dr. Ritushree Kukreti, Chief Scientist of CSIR-Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology (IGIB) explained the role of pharmacogenomics in the development of personalized cancer medicine.

Dr. Gauri Misra, of National Institute of Biologicals, Noida discussed about ways to control breast cancer . The valedictory programme of five days FDP concluded with the gracious presence of Dr. Kishore Singh, Professor and Head, Deptt. of Clinical & Radiation Oncology of Subharti Medical College, Meerut who highlighted the role of students in generating awareness against cancer by early detection by various approaches. Dr Rupa Mazumder (Dean and Convener of the FDP ) delivered the vote of thanks. Various dignitaries including faculty members from various institutes attended the faculty development programme.
