Pragyan School, Greater Noida organized an Odissi Dance recital on 8th October 2018 by the eminent dancer Smt. Kavita Dwibedi under the ageis of SPIC MACAY, the society for the promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture amongst youth. It’s objective is to promote intangible aspects of Indian Cultural heritage by promoting Indian classical music and dance.
The programme commenced with bouquet presentation to Smt. Kavita followed by the lighting of lamp by the eminent artist, the Managing Trustee of the school Mr. Ram Chand and the school Principal, Mrs. Ruchika Sharma.
Ms. Kavita Dwibedi accompanied by Mr. Suresh Kumar Sethi (Sitar), Mr. Prashant Kumar Maharana (Mardala) and Mr. Pradeep Kumar Bahera (Vocal) briefed the students about the Odissi dance and music.
Ms. Dwibedi commenced her performance with an invocation piece , Mangalacharan. She then performed ‘Pallavi’, a pure dance performed to the accompaniment of a raga, characterized by eye movements , body postures and intricate footwork.
Mr. Ram and Ms. Ruchika Sharma felicitated Ms. Dwibedi and her team by presenting them with mementoes. The school Principal then concluded the event by urging students to learn atleast one Art form in their lives so as to lead a life closer to divinity.
