Greater Noida Night Safari Projects

Night Safari

India’s first and world’s fourth- Night Safari project to be developed on 250 acres of land located adjoining to Gautam Budh university (GBU) campus right along the Yamuna Expressway.

Ernst & Young has been selected as the Financial Transaction Advisor and will shortly finalize the Business Plan for the Night Safari. EOI for the project was issued on 26th September 2014 and a workshop for interested applicants was held on 7th November 2014.

In August 2013, the Uttar Pradesh cabinet has given the go ahead for the proposal to build the Night Safari on a public-private partnership (PPP) model. The Greater Noida Authority is on the way to select an international standard consultant, who will supervise and monitor the country’s only Night Safari project’s construction. This selection process is expected to be completed in December 2013 and work on the site is expected to begin by April 2014.

The Night Safari is expected to be opened to public by 2017-18.

The project will create environment awareness and offer recreation to residents, besides boosting tourism in Greater Noida. It will be developed on the lines of open zoological gardens in China and Singapore. Unlike traditional nocturnal houses, which reverse the day-night cycle of animals so they will be active by day, the Night Safari will be an entire open-air zoo set in a humid tropical forest that is only open at night. The naturalistic enclosures simulate the animals’ native habitat. Animals would be separated from visitors with natural barriers, rather than caged, similar to the Singapore Zoo’s open concept. A train would course through the project site to take visitors to watch animals housed in the open wilderness in habitats recreated to match their original habitats. Proper arrangement will be made to observe the animals in the night with animal-watching hours proposed to be from 7pm to midnight.

The nocturnal park will be home to a total of 71 species of local and exotic animals.
