Virtual Industrial Visit – ITS Engineering College, Greater Noida

The virtual visit began with a very whelming welcome from Mr. Tushar Kumar, Public Relation Manager at Yakult Danone India Pvt. Ltd. He firstly explained the development of concept behind Yakult by Dr. Minoru Shirota. Then, he took the students on the virtual industrial visit tour of plant through a video. He also told some great facts about the bacteria that are being used in Yakult Drink. He also mentioned the production capacity of Yakult is 1 Million bottles per day.

The factory is spread over 8 acres and out of this more than 30% area is the green belt area. Total factory is designed as per international standards and special care was taken while designing to maintain the highest level of hygiene standards and deliver the best quality product to its consumers. The process of making Yakult is completely automated and there is no human touch at any point of time.

During this virtual visit, the students were made well versed with the functioning of the plant. Future Managers observed the production operations minutely and have made query related to operational functions and its efficiency while viewing the plant virtually. The presentation was followed by a brief question-answer round headed by Mr. Tushar, Public Relation Manager.Yakult, a probiotic drink was launched in India in 2008, and is presently available in Delhi, NCR, Chandigarh, Punjab, Jaipur, Lucknow, Kanpur, Mumbai, Pune and Bangaluru, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad and Kolkata.

At the end, he gave some time to the students for the query session and asked them to give a feedback. Overall, it was a learning experience for the students and they enjoyed it whole-heartedly.

Program Outcome:

Students were acquainted with the manufacturing process, key components used in an industry with special reference to Yakult Danone India Pvt. Ltd.

Students understood the advantage and disadvantage of non automated system.

Students learnt how Yakult helps improve digestion and helps build immunity.

Students understood uses of probiotics and antibiotics.

Students also learnt coordination, team spirit, raising queries with fun etc.
