As voter ID card not mandatory, everyone can use right to vote

BR Singh, Panchayats and urban local bodies election officer has done a important announcement regarding local bodies election in the state, on Monday. He said from now Election Photo Identity CARD(EPIC) is not mandatory for casting one’s vote in the urban local bodies elections, as a voter can use other documents as deemed valid by the Election.

As per the ECI, there are 14 types of identity proofs valid for casting one’s vote, including passport, driving licence, PAN card, Aadhaar card, service identity cards having photographs issued to its employees by state or the central government, public sector undertakings, local bodies or public limited companies; passbook with photograph issued by public sector banks/ post office, SC/ST/OBC certificates issued by a competent authority with photographs, pension documents such as ex-servicemen’s pension book/ pension payment order, ex-servicemen’s widow/dependent certificates, old age pension order, widow pension order with photograph and freedom fighter identity card with photograph, among others.

Singh said the EPIC ratio is the highest at Jehangirpur urban local body area with 80.87% voters having EPIC cards. The ward having highest total voters in Dadri is Nyadarganj with 4,950 voters. In other urban local bodies, Nai Basti, Sadbhavna Nagar, Sirjekhani, Kambuhan and Vyapariyan wards have the highest number of voters.“As on May 21, 2017 Dadri has an Election Photo Identity Card (EPIC) ratio of 71.49, Dankaur78.92, Rabupura 76.51, Bilaspur73.85, Jewar 75.09 and Jehangirpur 80.87,” Singh said.

In Dadri Municipality area, Mohalla Nyadarganj 1st ward, has the highest number of voters, with 4,950, among the total 25 wards. It has 2,245 female voters and 2,705 male voters.
