Greater Noida’s Engineering Student commits suicide, College denies ragging charges!

A student of B.tech first year studying in one of Greater Noida’s Institute has committed suicide. The student was a resident of Etawah in Uttar Pradesh and was living in Greater Noida for his engineering education.

Parents of the students allege that the boy was being constantly ragged by seniors and he has taken this extreme step because of the same.

Etawah ASP Jitendra Shrivastav said, “We have recieved the complaint and are investigating the matter. If any student of faculty is found guilty, strict action will be taken”.

College Rejects Charges, Ready To Cooperate in Investigation

The college in which the student studied has rubbed off the allegations of any ragging in its campus and has said that the student who had committed suicide wasn’t staying in college hostel. College authorities have also said that they had received no complaints from parents or student.

College has also claimed that student wasn’t present in campus from last 5-6 months and was debarred in all exams due to short attendance. The College authorities are extending full support and cooperation to investigating agencies to get in to details of the incident.

Ragging is an offence in India since UGC regulations on curbing the menace of ragging in Higher Educational Institutions came in to force since 2009.
