Charity begins at home: Citizen group resolves to self-clean Greater Noida locality

(12/04/2017) Greater Noida: A group of enlightened citizens from Greater Noida have planned for a cleanliness drive to take place in Greater Noida’s Tugalpur area on friday. The group has been in talks with authority officials since January to plan such drive in the area and finally it is going to start from Tugalpur on April, 14, 2017. Greater Noida authority has also agreed to provide a manpower of around 30 people as well as necessary equipments for the cleanliness drive.

Scheduled for 09:00 am in the morning on Friday, the cleanliness drive will try to cover as much as possible areas of the crowded Tugalpur market by about 01:00 pm.

Speaking to us convener of the cleanliness drive Suhani, a citizen of Beta-II locality in Greater Noida said,"We want to make citizens of the city aware about the importance of cleanliness. There are social-prejudices about people who clean the streets. Often certain sections of society downlook at sanitation workers. Indeed we beleive that keeping our city, locality or country clean is every individuals responsibilty. Our group of volunteeers will be physically taking part in the clenaliness drive and we will try to promote the moral of cleanliness being a collective responisbilty. We also want to give the message that class or caste divides should have nothing to do with cleanlines initiatives".

She also informed that this is going to be the first of many such drives and the group won’t relent until the final motive of a clean Tugalpur is achieved. They presently have five core members in the group and have given a call for more Volunteers to join in their initiative.

The group has also been active in accompanying Robin hood army for distributing food to underprivileged needy people in Greater Noida villages.
