Workshop & Hands-on Program on Advanced Implantology at ITS Dental College, Greater Noida

I.T.S Centre for Clinical Excellence(ITSCCE) at I.T.S Dental College, Greater Noida organized a Lecture & Hands-on Workshop Advanced Implantology, Direct Sinus Lift/Hard and Soft Tissue Management in collaboration with Dentium Implants (Korea) on24 th January 2017 in which more than 100 students and faculty from North India participated. Dr Anmol S Kalha (Director PG studies) addressed the august gathering and told that ITSCCE is established with the vision to provide cutting edge education with clinically
immersive and evidenced based programs that will transform the professional lives.The programs under this are build on a vision of being a leader in clinically directed ,research driven and patient centered education in a live clinical setting to highlight the learning experience. He stressed that advancement and keeping oneself abreast with the latest knowledge is the key to success in the field of dentistry.Dr.Puneet Ahuja, Principal extended a warm welcome to all the guests and delegates and appreciated the efforts of the organising team for conducting this kind of workshop. He told that the programs under ITSCCCE will be mentored by leaders in the field accredited both nationally and internationally with limited members to provide an intensive and clinically immersive experience that would take away the skills and knowledge directly to practice and professional lives. Dr Tushar Chawla delieverd the lecture on how to place the implants in deficient bone sites in posterior maxilla. He told that it is possible to place implant even in the sites where there is very little bone left with the help of newer surgical techniques.There was a Keynote lecture by Dr G K Thapliyal, Prof & Head, Dept of Oral &Maxillofacial Surgery who talked about various surgical techniques with which implants can be placed. Dr Amit Jayna, Prof & Head, Dept of Prosthodontics spoke about the various bonegrafting techniques. He also stressed about the use of various material used for bone grafting.After the lectures there was handson program conducted by Dr Tushar Chawla inwhich participants performed direct and indirect sinus floor elevation procedure and sinus floor augmentation independently in freshly harvested goat jaws. They also placed implants individually in freshly harvested goat jaws.Positive feedback was received by the participants and other faculty members about the workshop. The one day event provided simple solutions to complex root canal treatments while being aligned with recent updates in the field which helped the participants in developing an edge over the others in clinical competency.
