Voter Awareness program on 20.01.2017 at I.T.S Dental College Hospital &Research Centre”I.T.S. Dental College, Hospital & Research Centre, Greater Noida college organized a Poster, Rangoli and Slogan competition on Friday 20 th January 2017 for Voter Awareness for forth coming assembly election of Uttar Pradesh as per the directions from Election Commission. The aim of this program was to sensitize the voters about the importance of participation in an electoral process to ensure a responsive, accountable and democratically elected government and also to educate the young voters about the importance of vote in democratic country like India by voting for a suitable and right candidate. On this occasion Poster, Rangoli & Slogan competition was organized among undergraduate and post graduate students. The students from various BDS batches made the posters depicting the importance of voting in a democratic country like India.Dr Anmol S Kalha , Director PG Studies said that voter awareness should be a continuous process instead of a one off exercise. He told that Voter’s Education Awareness Programmes should be conducted on a regular basis in the senior secondary schools, colleges and other Educational Institutions. Electoral process and EVM awareness should be included as a part of the curriculum. Organizing debates and competitions in schools/ universities should also be encouraged. Dr Puneet Ahuja, Principal told that In order to help the electorates take an informed decision, it is quintessential to sensitise them about the importance of participating in the electoral process. He told that this year, the Election Commission had given special emphasis on inclusion of women and young voters which will help to get people of high morale and character elected to assemblies and parliament and ultimately help strengthening our great democracy. The students of the college participated with full enthusiasm and patients were made aware about the voting which is their democratic right with help of slogans and psoters.Mr Sohil Chadha, Vice Chairman, I.T.S – The Education Group congratulated the Faculty and students for organizing such kind of event.
