Student violence continues unabated at Sharda University

The ruckus that started at Sharda University on Thursday stretched till Friday. As reported, a Kashmiri student was thrashed after a fight broke out between two groups, including Indian and Afghanistani students Thursday. Thereafter, police had booked 350 students under different sections.

Kashmiri students protested on Friday, holding placards in their hands demanding action against the Indian students allegedly involved in the assault. Police personnel were already deployed in the campus. Taking concern of the matter, SSP Gautam Budh Nagar also reached the premises and directed officials for required actions.

Meanwhile, DM B N Singh also talked with Afghani students who demanded action against the culprits. They alleged that some political groups were posting religious comments over social media. Students had also shown such posts to the administration.

Later, DM directed that action be taken against anti-social elements who were trying disturb the peace and harmony of the university by radicalizing a minor issue between students. After the intervention of the DM, an FIR was also registered against Ved Nagar and Deepak Sharma. Apart from that, NSA may be imposed on them.

As per the report on 28th October, the Vice President will be visiting the University for Convocation. The law and order situation is not normal at the university, and the district police and Local Intelligence Unit will be sending a detailed report to the Vice President’s office. There are possibilities that the Vice President visit may get cancelled, which will definitely not be in favour of the University.
