Gautam Buddha University organised a special lecture by Ricardo Sasaki from Brazil

Greater Noida : Vipassana is the careful and detailed observation of the mental and bodily processes by means of instructions that aim to uncover the deeper layers of reality. It has its origens in the teaching of the Buddha and was preserved by meditative lineages, principally in Thailand, Myanmar and Sri Lanka. Strictly speaking Vipassana is not the name of a particular technique but the aim to be reached by inner development. The Buddha taught that serenity (Samatha) and insight (Vipassana) are the keys to diminishing suffering in the world.

Ricardo Sasaki is director and teacher at Nalanda Center for Buddhist Studies in Brazil. He has trained for the last 35 years under many teachers of various Buddhist traditions (including Ajahn Buddhadasa, Anagarika Munindra, etc.). Besides his work in Psychological Counselling and directing the Buddhist center, he is also a translator and a writer. He has been teaching Buddhist philosophy and meditation in Brazil and Europe, as well as participating and speaking in a number of international congresses in the past thirty years.

He received Dharma teacher accreditation from Aggamahapandita Rewata Dhamma Sayadaw as “Dhammacariya Dhanapāla”, and later the title of “Mahāsadhammajotikadhāja” from the Buddhist Sangha and the Ministry of Religious Affairs in Myanmar. He is also a Certified Yoga Instructor by Vivekananda Yoga in Bangalore, Certified Dharma Teacher and Lay Buddhist Minister in the lineage of Rev. Gyomay Kubose in Mahāyāna tradition, facilitator level 2 in Unified Mindfulness, and is also the pedagogical coordinator of NUMI – Nucleo de Mindfulness of Belo Horizonte, Brazil, a center dedicated to the spread of secular mindfulness.
